The Minnewaska Area varsity dance teams had great showings at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Invitational, Thursday, Jan. 19.

The Varsity Jazz and High Kick teams both placed first at the meet.  It was the second meet title for the Jazz team, which also won the championship at a home invitational to open up the year.

The JV teams did not compete at BBE.

•  The Varsity and JV dance teams also competed at the 20-team YME Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 21.

The JV Jazz team placed fourth and the JV Kick team was fifth, while the Varsity Jazz team placed 12th and the Varsity High Kick team was 10th.

Other teams participating at the YME Invitational were Lake City, YME, St. Cloud Cathedral, Melrose, Montevideo, St. James, LQP-Valley/DB, Canby-Minneota, DGF, Cannon Falls, BOLD-BLHS, Zumbrota-Mazeppa, Goodhue, MACCRAY-RCW, Worthington, ACGC, Wabasha-Kellogg, Lakeview and Sauk Centre.

The dance teams were set to compete at the WCC Meet at BOLD, Thursday, Jan. 26, before competing at the Hawley Invitational, Friday and the NLS Invitational, Saturday.  Results of those competitions will be highlighted next week.

Also coming up is the section meet at Wadena-DC, Saturday, Feb. 4.
