The Starbuck Junior Legion baseball team defeated KMS last Tuesday, then dropped  a game to Willmar 5-7 before coming back to defeat Lisbon Legion 11-9 on Saturday.

June 21

Starbuck Jr. Legion 20 

KMS 9

Starbuck stole the lead late in the game in the 20-9 victory over KMS.  The game was tied at nine with the Starbuck Jr. Legion team batting in the seventh.  Austin Weber tripled on a 1-1 count to allow his team to take the lead.

Starbuck earned the victory despite allowing KMS to score seven runs in the sixth inning.  KMS tied the score at nine in that inning.

Levi Johnson got the start for Starbuck and went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out six and walking just one.

Starbuck scattered 12 hits in the game.  Levi Johnson, Jack Majerus, Ryland Martin and Austin Ballhagen each managed multiple hits for Starbuck.  KMS totalled nine hits in the game.

June 25

Starbuck Jr. Legion 5 

Willmar VFW 7

Starbuck lost the lead lated in the game to suffer the 7-5 defeat to Willmar.  The game was tied at four with Willmar batting in the top of the fifth when Starbuck game up a walk that produced a run.

Starbuck did outhit Willmar seven to four.

Jack Majerus and Austin Ballhagen each had two hits to lead the Starbuck offense.

Nathan Dell took the loss.  He lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing no hits and three runs while striking out one.

June 25

Lisbon 9

Despite seeing its six-run lead whittled down by the end of the game, the Starbuck Jr. Legion team held off Lisbon for an 11-9 victory on Saturday.  

Lisbon managed four runs in the failed comeback.

Starbuck took the lead for good with eight runs in the fourth inning, when Jack Majerus singled, scoring one run; Noah Jensen doubled, scoring two runs; Gavin Cain ground out, scoring one run; Levi Johnson singled, scoring one run; and Austin Weber singled, scoring one run. 

Majerus was the winning pitcher for Starbuck, going four innings and allowing five runs on six hits and striking out two.   

Starbuck racked up 13 hits in the game.  Larson, Weber and Cain all had multiple hits and Larson went 3-4 at the plate to lead the Starbuck Jr. Legion offense.
