The Minnewaska Area girls golf team won a pair of WCC team titles at Melrose and Sauk Centre last Tuesday.  Ava Kollman earned medalist honors in both meets with rounds of 42 and 38.

The Lakers also hosted a six-team Minnewaska Girls Invitational, Friday, placing fourth of six teams in the loaded field.

In addition, Minnewaska Area was set to compete at the Fairmont Invitational, Saturday, but results were received too late for this week’s paper.

Coming up this week is a pair of WCC doubleheaders.  The teams are set to golf at Minnewaska Area and Benson, Wednesday, May 10, and at BOLD and Montevideo, Friday.

WCC meets at Melrose-SC

The Lakers won a pair of WCC meets at Melrose and Sauk Centre last Tuesday with Ava Kollman leading the way.

Minnewaska won the meet at Sauk Centre by 15 strokes over BOLD with a score of 181.  Ava Kollman earned medalist honors with a round of 42, while Annika DeBoer was tied for third with a 44, Arivia DeBoer was fourth with a 47 and Lexi Barsness was fifth overall with a 9-hole round of 48.  Also golfing for the Lakers were Anna Kollman (50) and Lillie Ogdahl (56).

•  A few hours later, the Lakers won their second team title of the day with a score of 165 at the Meadowlark Golf Course in Melrose.  BOLD was 31 strokes back in second with a score of 196.

Ava Kollman earned medalist honors again with a score of 38, while Annika DeBoer was second with a 40, Lexi Barsness tied for third with a 43 and Arivia DeBoer had a 44 to place fifth individually.

Also golfing for the Lakers, who have placed first at the opening three WCC meets with BOLD earning second, were Anna Kollman with a 53 and Lillie Ogdahl with a 55.

Minnewaska Invitational

The Lakers hosted a six-team Minnewaska Girls Invitational, Friday, placing fourth with a 359 total in a meet won by Elk River. Elk River had a total of 340 to edge Detroit Lakes by four strokes and Alexandria by 18.

Arivia DeBoer and Annika DeBoer had 85s for the Lakers to tie for seventh place overall, while Ava Kollman had an 89 to place 14th. In addition, Lexi Barsness carded a 100 to place 23rd, while Lille Ogdahl shot a 108 to earn 30th and Anna Kollman added a 118 to finish 34th.
