The Minnewaska Area softball team lost three games last week to fall to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the WCC.  The Lakers dropped a 16-1 decision at NLS last Tuesday and Minnewaska was also swept in a doubleheader by Sauk Centre, Thursday, 12-1 and 11-7.  During the doubleheader loss, Jenna Drewes was 4-for-6 at the plate, while Emma Poegel was 5-for-7 during the three games combined.

This week, the Lakers have two doubleheaders on the road.  Minnewaska is set to play a twinbill at Melrose Area, Tuesday (tomorrow) and at Montevideo, Thursday, May 4.

NLS 16, Minnewaska 1

NLS rapped out 13 hits and scored 16 runs on the way to a 16-1 home win over the Lakers during a game shortened to four innings due to the 15-run rule.

NLS, which got three hits from Dalayne Hatlestad and two hits each from two others, scored seven runs in the first and third innings to key the rout.  The Lakers scored their only run in the third inning.  

Emma Poegel led the Lakers, going 2-for-2 with a triple, while Ella Roering and Morgan Meyer also had hits for Minnewaska Area and Grace Larson had the lone RBI.

Taking the loss on the mound for the Lakers was Mataya Mix, who pitched the entire game, giving up 13 hits, seven earned runs and one walk with one strikeout.

SC 12-7, Minnewaska 1-0

The Lakers were swept in a doubleheader by Sauk Centre, 12-1 and 11-7, despite outhitting the Mainstreeters in the second game.

In the first game, the Mainstreeters scored at least run in every inning to end the game early due to the 10-run rule.

Lindsey Bailey went 4-for-4 with two doubles to lead Sauk Centre, while Emily Peters was 3-for-4.

The Lakers had three hits on the night with Jenna Drewes, Ella Roering and Emma Poegel rapping out hits for Minnewaska Area.  Drewes scored the only run for the Lakers in the fourth inning, coming home on an RBI by Grace Larson.

Leslie Murken pitched the first game, giving up eight hits, eight earned runs and eight walks over five innings with three strikeouts.

•  The Lakers found their offense in the second game, recording 11 hits and scoring seven runs, but it still wasn’t enough.

Trailing 9-3 after four innings, the Lakers rallied with four runs in the top-half of the fifth only to have the Mainstreeters answer with two more runs in their half of the inning.

Jenna Drewes led the Laker offense, going 3-for-4 with two runs, four stolen bases and a walk.  Emma Poegel was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI, while Grace Larson also had two hits, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Mataya Mix took the loss, scattering nine hits and giving up five runs and two walks with three strikeouts.

Adding one hit each for Minnewaska were Ally Mogard, Mix, Trelana Johnson and Anahbelle Ernst.

Lindsey Bailey had three more hits for the Mainstreeters, making her a perfect 7-for-7 during the twinbill.
