The Minnewaska Area girls golf team won another pair of WCC meets last week at Sauk Centre and Melrose to extend its lead in the conference. The Lakers also hosted the 7-team Minnewaska Area Invitational, Friday, placing second behind Detroit Lakes with a 334 total.  

Tying for medalist honors were Annika DeBoer and Ava Kollman with 75s.

Minnewaska also golfed at the Alexandria Invite, Saturday, but results of that competition were not available by presstime.

The Lakers have another busy week this week with a WCC doubleheader at Benson and Minnewaska Area, Wednesday, followed by the Lakeville Invitational, Friday and Saturday at the Minnewaska course.

The WCC teams are also making up the meet at BOLD, Monday, May 6.

Second WCC twinbill

The Lakers swept another conference doubleheader last Tuesday at Sauk Centre and Melrose, winning the first meet by eight strokes and the second meet by 19 over BOLD both times.

At Sauk Centre, where the Lakers totaled 173 strokes, Annika DeBoer and Arivia DeBoer tied for second place with 41s, while Ava Kollman was fifth with a 45 and BOLD’s Kenna Henriksen earned medalist honors with a round of 40.

Anna Kollman shot a 46 to earn sixth, while Kyra Nelson was 11th with a 50 and Lillie Ogdahl was 15th with a 52.

•  The Lakers won their fourth-straight WCC meet later in the day at Melrose, shooting a 164 total.

Arivia DeBoer earned medalist honors at Melrose with a 37 and Annika  DeBoer was right behind with a 38 to place second and give the Lakers a second golfer in the top-five. Kyra Nelson was next for Minnewaska Area with a 44 to earn sixth, while Ava Kollman’s 45 placed her seventh, Lillie Ogdahl was 13th with a 50 and Anna Kollman carded a 53 to place 18th.

Waska Invitational

Annika DeBoer and Ava Kollman led the Laker girls golf team to a second-place finish at the 7-team Minnewaska Invitational.

DeBoer and Kollman tied with players from Pequot Lakes and St. Michael-Albertville for top honors after all four golfers had a 75 over 18 holes.

Arivia DeBoer was next for the Lakers with a round of 81 to place ninth, while Lillie Ogdahl and Anna Kollman had 103s to tie for 32nd and Kyra Nelson added a 104 to place 35th.
